Anja's Children’s Home
Anja's Children's Home is located in a remote village in Banko, a suburb in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. In 2009, a Danish woman visited the community and was deeply touched by the challenges faced by children in the area. Moved by compassion and a strong desire to help, she acquired land from the local chief and established a safe haven for vulnerable children.
She built a single-storey home with an annex, which continues to serve as a place of care, stability, and opportunity. The home was named "Anja" in honour of her vision and commitment to supporting disadvantaged children.
Today, Anja's Children's Home provides care for 35 children aged 6 to 19. These children come from disadvantaged backgrounds, many having faced limited access to education, healthcare, and basic necessities.
The home is lovingly managed by a dedicated resident couple who provide daily care, supervision, and mentorship. They create a nurturing environment where children can grow, learn, and feel a true sense of belonging.
Education is at the heart of what we do. Every child is supported through the provision of educational materials, medical supplies, and nutritious food. Those who successfully complete their studies are encouraged and assisted in pursuing higher education.
At the age of 22, young adults transition from the home into independent living, equipped with the skills, confidence, and support needed to integrate into society and build their own futures.

Life in Banko remains challenging. Many children in the community grow up without access to essential services such as healthcare, proper nutrition, and education.
